You would almost not believe there is a vineyard in the Oxfordshire countryside, but Old Luxters Barn is just that, and its also a wedding venue and a pretty stunning one at that. A beautiful converted barn is the location for your wedding ceremony and the english countryside is just over the gate, the perfect backdrop for photographs.
Alan & Lydia asked me to cover their wedding their this summer and it was a fantastic wedding. Alan was in his full RAF finest and Lydia’s lace wedding dress looked sunning against it.
The wedding ceremony was held at Shiplake church just outside Henley. Its a beautiful church and the vicar was quite a caricature. Drafted in for the occasion to cover for another vicar he took some talking to to be allowed to take photos in the ceremony, luckily I have a lot of experience in this field and managed to negotiate taking some photos from down the isle. One of the guests however was no so lucky when he was told off for taking photos during the ceremony, hopefully it will make the photos I managed to take all the more special.
One thing I found particularly amusing is the shot showing the best man holding out his words like a script, as he no longer carries out wedding ceremonies every week he needed a little reminding of the words!
It was then off to Old Luxters for reception drinks and canapés before everyone was seated in the beautiful barn for the wedding breakfast. During the drinks reception while the guests enjoyed the sunshine I took the opportunity to take Alan & Lydia off through the countryside to take some artistic portraits of the two of them.

john johnston - Love these Lesley. The ones in the field have to be my favourite. Great processing
Phil Nunez - Love them Lesley, especially the couple shots near the trees with the sun on their backs, beautiful work.
Andy Rapkins - Beautiful colours and really punchy black and whites. They all look great but my favourite is the wide from the side of the path as the bridal party walks towards the church. The colours have an almost painted feel and it’s a lovely documentary photograph.
